Common Questions About the Stroke Recovery Initiative
We are here to support you and answer your questions about the Stroke Recovery Initiative.
How long does the Survey take to complete?
The Survey takes about 30 minutes to complete. You can save your answers and return later to finish.
I don't live near San Francisco. Can I still join?
We have participants from all over the country, and some of our studies have sites in cities across the United States. In many cases, we can match you with clinical research sites that are closer to where you live.
Can I fill out the survey on behalf of someone else?
No. You cannot consent or take the Survey on behalf of someone else without their knowledge. You can, however, be there to help someone else complete the survey. Note that to take the survey, you must be at least 18 years old and be able to give consent to be contacted.
What do we need to prepare for the survey?
Other than the patient's consent, all you need to gather for the Survey is the date of the stroke or strokes and a list of all current medications you are taking.
After the survey is complete, will I automatically be enrolled in a clinical trial?
No. We will keep your information in our files. If you are matched with a current or future study, we will email information about the study, and then you can decide whether or not to participate in that particular study. Every new participant helps the research community understand where and how more stroke research studies and recovery methods are needed.
Where can I learn more about improving quality of life after a stroke?
We encourage you to talk to your doctor or other healthcare provider about any medical questions. Here are some additional stroke resources to review:
